About the Show
Watch five magic beans sprout into a world of adventure at WFT! What waits for Jack at the top of the towering beanstalk? Fee-fi-fo-fum… Young and old alike will roar with laughter at the antics of a crazy cast of characters, drawn from the classic figures of Commedia dell’arte. A form of theatre that arose in 15th century Italy, Commedia features stock characters, exaggerated masks, padded costumes, and a style of acting based on broad physical comedy. Its zany, no-holds-barred, “slapstick” style can still be found today in animated cartoons, situation comedies, the films of Charlie Chaplin, and professional wrestling. Sophisticated enough for middle school; great fun for all ages.

This show's energy and pace were so lively, it was almost impossible not to want to jump out of your seat and join them! A great event for the whole family~

My daughter and I went to see the play on opening night. It was a wonderful experience. My daughter loved everything about the play and enjoyed it from the begining to the end. I really encourage everyone to see and a fun time with the family. Don't miss! It's Worth it!

What A Fun Play

The Beanstalk, The Giant and Jack is truly delightful for people of all ages! The play is an adaptation of the you-know-what-story written by the founders of Wheelock Family Theater(WFT) in Comedia D'el Arte style with the addition of a few classic fairy tale characters, a la 'Into the Woods.' The humor is rich enough to be appreciated by adults and our children loved the slapstick humor. It is a lot of fun! The Wheelock Family Theater is a professional theater that never ceases to amaze me with their diverse and inclusive mix of actors. Don't miss this play!
