Need a little laughter in your life? How about a lot? The playfully brilliant Doug Elkins merges modern and popular dance forms to reinvent Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music as an edgy yet fun-loving sing-along cabaret romp.

Fraulein Maria is Rodgers and Hammerstein's The Sound of Music as seen through the brilliant mind and playful spirit of Doug Elkins, whispered to be one of the wickedest wits around. A tour-de-force comedy, Fraulein Maria began as a love letter to Elkins' young son Liam and daughter Gigi, on a tiny stage at Joe's Pub at NY's Public Theater. Popular demand and critical acclaim led to numerous return engagements and an eventual move uptown. Set to the Julie Andrews soundtrack, Elkins's affectionate humor shines through his seamless merging of modern and popular dance forms including hip-hop and 'vogueing,' as he reinvents this beloved 1965 standard into an edgy yet fun-loving sing-along cabaret romp.

Suitable for ages 5+.

4-starGood but avant garde
This is a very avant garde spoof of The Sound of Music. It is mostly dance. Expect men in dresses and some suggestive content, and to have to explain a particular scene that is a metaphor about Germany taking Austria.
