8:00pm - A Mirror Up to Madness: Scenes from Award-winning Dramas.
This performances is a culmination of a two-week Advanced Performance Class; for youth under the direction of Ilyse Robbins and John O'Neil, and for teen-agers under the tutelage of director Fran Weinberg. Realizing Wheelock Family Theatre students' talent and performing capabilities, this audition-based program is intended to enhance the developing artists' skills while providing an opportunity for a professional showcase.
Excerpted from four major dramatic works: Medea by Euripides, The Elephant Man by Bernard Pomerance, Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, and Lettice and Lovage by Peter Shaffer, 'A Mirror Up to Madness' is an evening of selected scenes. The work challenges each student actor to approach unfamiliar characters, situations, and genres; resulting in a dramatic and exciting glimpse into each play. Sure to engage an older audience, this performance contains some adult subject matter and may not be appropriate for all ages.
Drama Students: Alex Barber, Sydney Blaxill, Eleanor Bragg, Zoe Clayton, Hannah Dober, Emily Eldridge-Ingram, John Manning, Justin O'Brien, Alma Prelec, Matthew Robertson, Carlos Rojas, James Swanson, Felix Teich, and Talia Weingarten.
