The 5th annual Shakespeare in the Park will held this year at Robbins Farm Park on Sunday, August 7 at 5:00 pm. The New England Shakespeare Company will perform The Taming of the Shrew. The performance, geared for all ages, is cosponsored by the Arlington Center for the Arts, the Friends of Robbins Farm Park, and Friends of Menotomy Rocks Park.

Audience members are encouraged to come early, bring chairs or blankets and a picnic. The sponsors will sell desserts, beverages, Shakespeare tote bags, t-shirts, and more.

The Story
Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew is the story of two daughters of the merchant, Baptista, the demure Bianca, who has no shortage of suitors, and the quarrelsome Katherina. Bianca is not allowed to marry before her older sister. Petruchio has his eye on Katherina's fortune, and through a series of disguises and ruses, he courts her. Katherina resists, but after a period of bumpy negotiations she and Petruchio arrive at the end of their hostilities.
