5-starLilly's Plastic Purple Purse
Scores of bookloving kids converged on Beverly this week to meet the inconquerable Lilly, subject of Keven Henkes' beloved book and star of the newly refurbished NSMT 's Youth Performance Academy production. As Lilly, young actress [Tasia Kendall Everett resident] OR [Gloucester resident Simone Senibaldi] was everything a 'queen of the world' should be -- loud, indignant, and determined iin her red boots and wielding that famous purse. The show, artfully incoporating other Henkes characters Julius and Chester, was a hit with it's young audience, who gasped with delight each time Lilly sassed her parents, friends, or teachers. And the theater's new seats, replaced after last year's devastating fire, are wide, comfy and accomodating when your theatre partner decides to view the show from your lap.
