A teacher who zaps children into apples, an eccentric dance teacher, two talking pigtails, a mysterious and spooky substitute teacher and 14 students who ride the wave of this zaniness.

Watertown Children’s Theatre’s Play Factory presents Sideways Stories from Wayside School, May 17 at 7 pm, May 18 at 1 pm, and May 19 at 1 pm, in the Black Box Theater at the Arsenal Center for the Arts in Watertown.

Wayside School was accidentally built sideways.

It was supposed to be only one story high, with thirty classrooms all in a row.

Instead, it is thirty stories high, with one classroom on each story!

Maybe that's why all kinds of funny things happen at Wayside - especially on the thirtieth floor!

An ensemble cast of 3rd-5th graders brings this childhood favorite to life.

Director Jennifer Vento shares, “'The wacky world of Wayside School includes a teacher who zaps children into apples, an eccentric dance teacher, two talking pigtails, a mysterious and spooky substitute teacher and 14 students who ride the wave of this zaniness.

The cast does a great job of connecting to the whims and reactions of the students in Wayside School and bringing out the nuances in the script.

General admission tickets are $10 and will be available beginning April 30th through WCT’s website at www.watertownchildrenstheatre.org or by calling 1-800-838-3006.
