The classic Rogers & Hammerstein musical The Sound of Music comes to Andover Father's Day weekend. ACT Theater Company will present four performances at Andover's West Middle School auditorium. Tickets are available at www.acttheatercompany.com.
Captain Von Trapp will receive a proper Father’s Day salute as ACT Theater Company presents Rodgers & Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music at West Middle School Auditorium, June 13-15.
More than 40 local children and adults will “start at the very beginning” in this classic Broadway hit and having you humming along until “So Long, Farewell.”

The Sound of Music has reigned as the world's most beloved musical for 55 years.
Later an Academy Award winning movie and most recently an NBC Live television performance, the appeal of the Von Trapp's story is timeless.
When a spirited postulant proves to be a “problem” for the pious, she is dispatched to serve as governess for the seven children of a widowed naval Captain.
Her growing rapport with the youngsters, coupled with her fun loving disposition, gradually captures the Captain’s heart and they marry.
Upon returning from their honeymoon, they learn that Austria has been invaded by the Nazis, who demand the Captain’s immediate service in their navy.
The family’s late night escape over the mountains to Switzerland on the eve of World War II provides one of the most inspirational finales ever presented on stage.
The Sound of Music contains several popular songs, including 'Edelweiss', 'My Favorite Things', 'Climb Ev'ry Mountain', 'Do-Re-Mi', 'Sixteen Going on Seventeen', 'The Lonely Goatherd', and the title song, 'The Sound of Music'.
