3A), Duxbury.
The production is directed by Stasia O’Brien.
In the madcap comedy tradition of Ludwig’s popular farce Lend me a Tenor, hilarious Moon Over Buffalo centers on George and Charlotte Hay, fading stars of the 1950's, but still clinging to the stage in New York.
On the brink of a disastrous split-up caused by George’s dalliance with a young ingénue, they receive word of a potential last shot at stardom.
Famed film director Frank Capra is coming to town to see their matinee!
If Capra likes what he sees, he might cast them in his movie remake of The Scarlet Pimpernel.
Unfortunately for George and Charlotte, everything that could go wrong does go wrong, abetted by a visit from their daughter’s clueless fiancé and hilarious uncertainty about which play they’re actually performing, caused by Charlotte’s deaf old stage-manager mother who despises every bone in George’s body.
During its’ debut in 1995, Moon Over Buffalo marked the return, after a 30-year absence, of comedic actress Carol Burnett to the Broadway stage.
Amongst the cast are Ted Lillys of Duxbury as “George”, Laura Howerton of Marshfield as “Charlotte”, Paulie Devlin of Plymouth as “Rosalind”, Marie Miller of Marshfield as “Ethel”, Allison Porter of Middleboro as “Eileen”, Chris Hrivnak of Pembroke as “Paul”, Chris Soule of Boston as “Howard” and Michael Whalen of Weymouth as “Richard”.
Tickets are available for $20 for adults, $18 for students and seniors.
