The story begins when a lonely boy named Bastian stumbles into a curious bookshop and discovers a curious bookâThe Neverending Story.
Bastian hides in the attic of his school and begins to read, and a huge adventure surges to life.
Fantastica, a land of stories, is being destroyed by the Nothing.
The Childlike Empress has chosen Atreyu, an orphaned boy, to be the Hero of the Great Quest.
He accepts and sets off on his mission with his horse and companion, Artax.
As Atreyu encounters many dangers and fantastical creatures, Bastian finds himself transported into Atreyu's adventure.
First published in 1979, The Neverending Story has gathered a large fan base over the years, especially with the 1984 movie of the same name.
The Neverending Story is a fun-filled experience for the entire family, performed by 30 actors age 7-12 from the communities of Arlington, Somerville, Cambridge, Belmont, and Lexington.
Follow Bastian as he joins Atreyu, the Wind Giants, Falkor the Luck Dragon, and Morla the enormous sea turtle, to help save Fantastica from the powerful Nothing.
