FOR FAMILIES: A 3PM performance of 'Funny Bones' (by Sarah's Puppets) and 'The Three Bears, or a Bed and Breakfast in the Woods' (by You and Me Puppets) will be open to the public.
FOR ADULTS: Workshops for educators, parents, and puppet enthusiasts [$50 for the day] will be given by some of region’s outstanding puppeteers and members of the Puppeteers of America. People can learn the art of puppetry from the Masters!
Adult Workshops will include:
Folktales from Page to Stage (Sparky Davis)
Puppets in the Classroom: Meeting state Standards while Meeting Student's Needs... and Having Fun, Too! (Liz Freeman)
Making Simple Puppets to Depict Famous Artists (Agusta Agustusson)
Toy Theater: Small is Beautiful! (Judy O'Hare)
There will also be workshops on sculpting, hand puppets, and shadow puppets.
Educators will receive a certificate of participation and will be given a handbook of the workshop projects to bring back to their schools for future use.
There will also be an exhibit of puppets and projects presented by members of the Boston Area Guild of Puppetry. Books written by BAGOP members including Puppetry in Education and Therapy: Unlocking Doors to the Mind and Heart will be on sale.
BAGOP is a local organization of puppetry performers and enthusiasts throughout the Boston Area and New England.
