The most important questions – right and wrong, just and unjust, kindness and carelessness.
Our entire world in all its social complexities are revealed as not very complex at all on the playground when Theater Workshop presents Christmas in July, a stage adaptation of the cartoon series, Recess, made popular in 1990’s.
Director, Stacey Fix brings these hilarious characters featured in the series to life.
Laugh out-loud as a group of best friends are highlighted as they navigate the social hierarchies, obstacles and heroes of the playground.
It’s the last week of school and all the rituals and traditions of elementary school are unfolding all the while friends are planning their summer vacations.
One student’s summer camp dreams are realized when support comes as a gift from the most unlikely source.
This surprise ending is expressed as the feelings that are associated with, “Christmas in July!” A cast of 60 student actors costumed in vivid primary colors dance across the stage, into the audience, and on a full-scale playground.
Performances are December 7,8,9,10 at the Newbury Elementary School.
Saturday evening performance offers a discount K-6 student ticket for $5, all other tickets are $15.00.
Theater Workshop is a professional children’s theater enrichment program of Workshop Arts Inc.
a non-profit foundation.
Children from different schools are included.
