FOOTLOOSE is the hit stage musical based on a 1984 movie that starred Kevin Bacon. The show opened on Broadway in 1998 for more than 700 peformances. It's the story of teenagers in a small high school, led by a newcomer from Chicago. who challenge their town's rules against dancing.

Twenty songs and dances are performed by youths and adults from 15 Massachusetts towns, including students from six area colleges.

This Newton Country Players production is directed by Cynde Hartman, choreographed by Laura Esp, and music directed by Mario Cruz. The show is written by Dean Pitchford and Walter Bobbie, with music by Tom Snow and lyrics by Dean Pitchford. Additional music is by Eric Carmen, Sammy Hager, Kenny Loggins and Jim Steinman.
