a Special February Vacation Show: Crabgrass Puppets in The Day It Snowed Tortillas
The Day Snowed Tortillas is a delightful Mexican folktale about luck, love and lunch! This new show by the award- winning Crabgrass Puppets will be performed on Monday, February 18 at the Leventhal-Sidman Jewish Community Center in Newton.
Performances are 11am and 1pm and tickets are $9 general admission. Tickets are available by calling 617-965-5226 or online at www.lsjcc.org.
This hilarious folktale tells the story of a poor woodcutter and his wife who outwit a gang of bullies. The couple has the chance of a lifetime – to become rich – and all they have to do is keep a secret… something the woodcutter is unable to do. So his clever wife cooks up an ingenious plan, and all she has to do is make it snow in July, in Mexico! The recipe for this folktale includes fantastic puppets, marvelous music and, one very funny chicken!
Crabgrass Puppet Theatre has twice been awarded the prestigious Citation of Excellence from the American Center of the Union Internationale de la Marionette, the highest honor in American puppetry. They have performed at the Smithsonian Institute, the Tribeca Performing Arts Center, the Philadelphia Museum and hundreds of other museums, schools and theaters across the country.
