An all-ages tour of Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy’s Life from the North End to the Greenway

Come celebrate the life of Boston matriarch, Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy and explore her neighborhood and Boston’s newest park, the Rose F. Kennedy Greenway, named in her honor. Join Boston Women’s Heritage Trail tour guides as we explore the North End to learn about Rose’s background and childhood. Enjoy the Rose Kennedy Garden in Christopher Columbus Park and the Greenway Mothers Walk. This tour is free and suitable for both children and adults.

This tour was created to complement a classroom program on Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy’s life developed by The Education Department at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. Classroom curriculum and maps to take a self-guided tour are available on the Conservancy’s website, http://www.rosekennedygreenway.org/programs/roses-life.htm.

No reservations are required for this free tour. Bring your own memory of Rose and her family to share. For a self-guided tour, download the walking map on the Conservancy’s website, http://www.rosekennedygreenway.org/programs/roses-life.htm

About Rose Fitzgerald Greenway Conservancy
The Rose Kennedy Greenway, a vibrant, mile-long ribbon of open space, was created when Boston’s elevated six lane highway was demolished and the Central Artery Project completed. Now, four of Boston’s most diverse and dynamic neighborhoods – formerly divided by a massive structure of steel and asphalt – are linked by beautifully landscaped parks, gardens, and plazas and reconnected with the harbor.

Established in July, 2004 through an agreement with the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority, the City of Boston, and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the Rose Fitzgerald Greenway Conservancy is a private, non-profit organization. The Conservancy will manage operations and establish an endowment to fund maintenance and promote and support educational programs, performances, and other special events.
