Yes, it's cold, but, we generally go about our business moving from heated houses to heated buildings in heated conveyances. What was it like to survive in winter in earlier times? This special evening tour explores how early New Englanders survived the cold.
The Gore mansion is well suited to this task with recently discovered evidence of an early central heating system, the possibility that the Gore's had a rare column stove, several modern fireplaces and various period objects designed to fight off the cold.
After this look at early heating (or lack thereof) You'll feel better about the weather...you might even go down to the cellar and hug your furnace!
Capacity is limited. Advanced tickets are suggested. To order, call (781) 894-2798 ext. 12. for more information, email events@goreplace.org, or visit the website at: www.goreplace.org/lest-we-freeze.htm.
