Walking Tour of Wadsworth Cemetery
The Sudbury Historical Society will once again host a walking tour of Wadsworth Cemetery, 74 Concord Road, Saturday, September 17 at 11:00 a.m. If you missed the tour last year you will want to be sure to attend.
Hear how this historic cemetery evolved and is maintained, listen to the stories about those buried there and learn about memorial art, burial customs and symbols, and about cemetery architecture.
The walk will begin with an overview of the tour at the Summer House, located behind the Wadsworth Monument.
SHS Trustee Elin Neiterman will then lead participants to the monument that was dedicated in 1852 to the soldiers who were casualties of the King Philip War in 1676 and then on to the graves of Sudbury’s notable citizens located in the earliest sections of the cemetery.
The tour is free for members and $5 for nonmembers.
Attendees are asked to park along the roadways in the new section of the cemetery.
Parking is not allowed on Concord Road.
