Historian Jim McAllister's leisurely stroll around Salem's Washington Square Historic District includes a fascinating look at the Salem Common area and its transformation from an industrial zone to an elegant residential neighborhood. Enjoy vivid stories about famous residents- including Daniel Webster, architect Samuel McIntire and game inventor George Parker- and popular institutions like the Hawthorne Hotel and the defunct Salem Club and Now and Then Hall.
