Visitors can watch and interact with students and instructors at work eight different areas of concentration – Furniture and Cabinetmaking, Violin Making, Carpentry, Locksmithing, Jewelry Making and Repair, Bookbinding, and Piano Technology. A free shuttle bus on Friday will provide rides to the school’s Arlington, MA campus to view its Preservation Carpentry training program.

Visitors also may take home finished crafts pieces by purchasing the work of students and alumni, available in the school’s Gallery on the ground floor.

Serious amateurs looking into short workshop courses, aspiring artisans considering full-time programs, and those who are simply curious will find this annual fall tradition an informative, behind-the-scenes glimpse at the school’s working studios and training methods.

Take the Green Line or Orange Line to Haymarket Station. From Haymarket, go across the Rose Kennedy Greenway (under construction - not yet green) turning right onto Cross Street. Turn left onto Salem Street, North Bennet Street is the third street on the right. School is on the corner of North Bennet Street and Salem Streets. Look for the large clock mounted on the corner of the School building.

1-starStudent Recruiting Event Not So Great For Kids
The NBSS was gracious to open its doors but this event is definitely not for families with small children. It is clearly more of a student-recruitment open house than a family tour of the various craft workshops. For example, there are no demonstrations of the steps to making a violin/piece of jewelry/piece of furniture to hold little ones' interest.
