On this tour, students will learn about the nature of soundwaves using the acoustics of the incredible auditorium space and an assortment of other rooms that manipulate the way sound travels.
Using kazoos, percussion, and their own voices and bodies, students can analyze the anatomy of sound, how it travels, and how we interpret it.
Additionally, students will see and experience technology that is almost a century old including a thermal energy storage air conditioning system to a hand-powered elevator.
Students can see how technology and industry has evolved over time as well as think critically about how to move our technology into the future.
The overarching theme of these STEM based tours would focus on innovation of the past into the future, looking at how things were designed before and how we bring them into the modern day.
The tour will be at 12:00 PM Monday (2/21), at the Wang Theatre, 270 Tremont St, Boston, MA 02116.
Space is limited to 20 people. Proof of vaccination is required for anyone older than 12. 12+ is the ideal age range for this tour, and parents are welcome to join.
This is a free event but you need to register ahead of time by emailing Scott Towers stowers@bochcenter.org.
