Become a Family Leader with the Appalachian Mountain Club
Whether you are looking to become an AMC chapter leader or want to feel more comfortable taking family groups or youth groups outside, this training will prepare you to lead groups of all ages on day hikes.
This training will focus on family day hikes and Outdoors Rx family hikes, but concepts apply to all AMC activities.
Topics to be covered include leadership styles, group management, safety considerations, and trip planning, all with kids in mind.
The training will include an optional extension for leaders to become certified Chapter Youth Programs (CYP) leaders.
We will combine indoor classroom time with outdoor leadership practice, so be prepared to spend time outside.
Lunch is provided.
Families with children age 5-15 are welcome to bring along.
Separate activities will be provided.
