John McCutcheon is one of America’s most respected and popular folksingers. His 30 recordings have garnered numerous honors, including five consecutive Grammy nominations for Best Children’s Recording. He is a master of a dozen traditional instruments, most notably the rare and beautiful hammer dulcimer. Along with his impeccable musical credentials, John’s commitment to peace and justice have put him on the frontlines of many issues important to communities and parents.
The performance is centered on John’s song and recent book by the same title, “Christmas in the Trenches,” which describes the spontaneous truce on Christmas Eve 1914 in World War I. This concert will be infused with the spirit, music, stories and celebrations of peace. It will be the perfect beginning to the season of peace on earth, good will to all humankind.
